Taking a Sick Hour

I'm sick today. I have a cold. It's been lurking in my head and chest for a few days now, making me really tired. Normally, I'm a trooper when I'm sick. I am! I nursed a baby while I had the flu, thank you very much. But today, I admit defeat. I went to the store and bought several cold medicines, orange juice, pringles (my grandma was a big supporter of the whole "feed a cold" school of thought, and she always said that potato chips were excellent - a little salty, and the crunch helps soothe the throat. now, i don't know about that, but pringles are homeopathic medicine for me), and the ingredients to make my chicken and veggie soup with dumplings - the best comfort food for any illness. (Sometime today, my husband will read this and think, "Ahhhhh, yum, chicken and dumplings. . . . ") So, I'm off to sit on the couch for a few hours and be sick. I'm sure my sick day will only last for a few hours, then it's back to work for me. Don't you know - motherhood offers no sick days.

You sure you're not faking it? I think if feeling sick gave me the right to sitting around watching TV and eating chicken and dumplings, I would be awfully tempted.
